Perfect Tree (Comic 5)

About

Every year, my family makes a special trip to Noel Tree Farms in Litchfield, NH to find our perfect Christmas tree. It’s become a cherished tradition since we moved to New Hampshire three years ago, bringing joy, warmth, and plenty of laughter to the holiday season.

Before moving, we lived in California, where “cut-your-own” tree farms weren’t as common, especially near the big cities. When we arrived in New Hampshire, we were determined to dive into the local experience. On our first visit, it was gently snowing, the kind of snow that feels like magic. After finding and cutting our tree, we were delighted to find fire pits where we could roast hot dogs and s’mores—a simple touch that instantly won our hearts.

The process is always full of enthusiasm. Someone volunteers (sometimes too eagerly) to cut the tree down and drag it back through the snow. Once the hard work is done, we recharge with a little “nourishment” by the fire, enjoying those hot dogs, gooey s’mores, and the warmth of the flames. It’s these little moments—smiling around a crackling fire—that make the trip so memorable.

Afterward, with our tree wrapped up, we grab a wreath and a few festive extras before heading home. The day ends with decorating the tree and building a gingerbread house, filling the house with the scent of pine and sugar. Noel Tree Farms has become more than just a destination—it’s a highlight of our year, blending New England charm with family tradition.
