This comic holds a special place in my heart because it brings back memories of a snowy trip to Oregon with my children. We were pulling a 28-foot travel trailer through the snow—a challenging but exciting adventure. Along the way, we would stop in Walmart parking lots, and the kids would draw massive pictures in the snow by dragging their feet. Each drawing became a guessing game as the rest of us tried to decipher their snowy creations before they vanished under the steady snowfall. Some were impressively detailed, while others hilariously devolved into a tangled mess of lines. It didn’t matter, though; it was the joy and laughter in those fleeting moments that made the adventure unforgettable.
When we finally settled in New Hampshire, the first thing my kids did in the snow was make snow angels, much like Mik in this comic. Their excitement and pure delight in those simple moments captured the magic of childhood. Even as they grow older, I still catch them occasionally falling into the snow to make angels, just like they did when they were small. Drawing this comic was my way of bottling up that nostalgia—a reminder of how snow, creativity, and the innocence of play connect us to simpler, joyous times.
